Meet Dave
Dave serves as the Fifth Snohomish County Executive, now seeking re-election. Following his service on the Snohomish County Council, Dave took office on January 1, 2016, with a central mission of developing policies that enhance the safety, health, sustainability, and prosperity of our community. Throughout his career in public service, he has prioritized fiscal accountability and responsible stewardship of the public's resources.
As the manager of twelve diverse departments within the Snohomish County government, including Paine Field Airport, Emergency Management, Human Services, Public Works, Medical Examiner, and Planning and Development Services, Dave recognizes that county government impacts every family, from permit acquisition to voting, to justice system engagement, and enjoyment of local events like the Evergreen State Fair.
In pursuit of a better future for Snohomish County, he believes that more can be done to cultivate regional partnerships, elevate customer service, and establish sustainable financial strategies. Dave is dedicated to enhancing public service delivery and ensuring that the most vulnerable members of our community are protected. He advocates for agriculture and sustainable development as the smartest way to preserve what makes Snohomish County a great place to live.
As a Board member of the National Association of Counties and County Executives in America, Dave represents Snohomish County in regional and national policymaking. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Puget Sound Regional Council and Sound Transit, where he prioritizes the timely delivery of light rail to Lynnwood, Paine Field, and Everett.
Dave was a tuba player and Drum Major in the University of Washington Husky Marching Band and marched in the 1978 Rose Bowl. He's been married to his wife, Elaine, for 34 years. They've lived on 15 acres outside of Monroe since 1986.
